On the Road Again

Today I leave for San Diego to attend the International Association of Speakers Bureaus annual convention. The theme this year is Reflect. Renew. Envision. It is the 25th annual convention and promises to be a very memorable one.

The annual convention is a time for the members of our association to gather together in collaboration to celebrate the past, hear amazing speakers, honor our members and strategize about the future of the speaking industry. I am proud to say that I will become the president of IASB at this year’s convention and am humbled and honored to assume this role.

Not long after I founded Gail Davis & Associates, I discovered our industry association and have been a part of it ever since. What I found in this organization was a collegial group of peers who shared a common interest to ensure everyone in our industry maintained the highest ethical standards. IASB was sort of the Good Housekeeping seal for speakers’ bureaus. I instantly wanted to be a part of such an esteemed organization.

Through my affiliation with IASB, I have met many friends, heard incredible speakers and developed true partnerships with my colleagues that will last a lifetime. All of this makes me a stronger professional, allowing me to provide better service to my clients. It also gives me a tremendous appreciation for the various association groups that are clients of GDA. While the professions may vary, the mission of almost all associations is very similar.

At IASB, we aim to provide global leadership, expertise and standards of excellence for the speaker bureau industry. I am proud to carry on these traditions as president and look forward to a wonderful trip in San Diego. I plan to blog throughout this four day conference to share with you what is “hot” in the speaking industry. Please check back in over the next few days for updates.
